Artist Profile

Kristian Carstens

Kris has been creating steel sculpture for the last four years, since being introduced and learning under Chances Hook during his freshmen year at FSU. The artist is now graduating and finds his style split between hollow form figures and lighted wall pieces such as this one. His work is shown locally at Bali Hi as well as being in contention for a spot in the Hook Memorial Garden. Currently the artist works on commission and can be contacted (561) 756-1195 or by email at KBubba35@aol.com.

Artwork Description

This piece was inspired by a stuffed toucan from the artist's childhood that had first belonged to his mother and eventually himself until it was lost during a family move. The artist states, "I was pretty upset and still miss it today and I think that's a lot of the reason for my enjoyment making pieces like this".
