D. E. Matthews is originally from Brevard County, but moved to Tallahassee 8 years ago, after getting a degree in film and photography from University of Texas. Most of the artist's photographic work at Optik Gallery is portraiture, but he also does some painting.

This piece is one of a series of photographs and paintings of Carmen Miranda and her impersonators. This piece was donated by Tom Hicks.
