Staff and volunteers at Big Bend Cares provide a wide range of HIV prevention education, and HIV and AIDS awareness services. Some of the programs that are available include:
FREE HIV Confidential Testing Big Bend Cares is a registered testing site with the Florida Department of Health. Confidential tests that include pre- and post-test counseling are conducted by qualified staff. Big Bend Cares offers Orasure (results in two weeks) and Oraquick (results in 30 minutes) tests free. Oraquick tests need to be scheduled in advance, and are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Both OraSure and OraQuick tests do not require that blood be drawn. If your organization or community group wants testing, it can be scheduled. Please call for additional information regarding testing.
Social Networking Strategies (SNS) is offered to three target populations: Men who have sex with men (MSM) between the ages of 18 and 55; African-Americans in outlying counties; and those in shelters and rehab facilities.
