Big Bend Cares's Prevention Services

Staff and volunteers at Big Bend Cares provide a wide range of HIV prevention education, and HIV and AIDS awareness services. Some of the programs that are available include:

Advancing HIV prevention — The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has taken HIV prevention to a new level. The CDC has developed a list of scientifically proven prevention interventions that is located in the CDC's procedural guidance.

HIV Confidential Testing — Big Bend Cares is a registered testing site with the Florida Department of Health. Confidential tests that include pre- and post-test counseling are conducted by qualified staff. HIV testing is done with the orally administered OraSure test, and does not require that blood be drawn. Testing is free. If your organization or community group wants testing, it can be scheduled. Please call for additional information regarding testing.

Big Bend Cares now offers Walk-in Testing! No appointment is necessary!

CDC Approved HIV Prevention Interventions — Big Bend Cares offers Prevention Case Management in Gadsden County only, VOICES and MPowerment (Spectrum) in Madison, Jefferson, Taylor, Leon, Liberty, Wakulla, Gadsden, and Franklin Counties.

HIV Presentations — Big Bend Cares offers AIDS 104 classes bimonthly.
