What is Spectrum?

Spectrum provides alternative social environments for young gay, bi and trans guys while promoting safer sex in fun ways. We're all about meeting other guys, building a stronger and healthier community, and having a good time. Spectrum is open to all gay, bi and trans guys ages 18-29 in Tallahassee and surrounding areas. Our project design has been used in other cities, and is proven to significantly reduce rates of unsafe sex among young gay and bisexual men. Spectrum is supported by Big Bend Cares, a United Way Agency. If you'd like to get involved, find out more, or support our efforts, please contact Big Bend Cares at 850-656-2437, extension 246.
Core Group
The Core Group is made up of 12-20 guys who are the guiding force of the project, planning Spectrum's events and bar zaps and making important decisions about the project. The Core Group meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Family Tree Community Center in downtown Tallahassee. Come and make a difference in your community!
Connections
Come to Connections! Connections are Spectrum's casual, one-time gatherings of 8-10 guys. The meetings provide a laid-back and comfortable environment to meet other guys and talk about dating, relationships, sex and how to stay safe. Free refreshments are provided! To sign up for the next Connections, call 850-656-2437, extension 246.
Bar Zaps!
Spectrum takes its message to the street, distributing free condoms and lube at local gay bars each month. The Outreach Team chooses a new theme for every Bar Zap, coordinating costumes with our fun and sexy flyers. By being highly visible in Tallahassee's bar scene, Spectrum's Outreach Team works to establish safer sex as a community norm and protect our community.
Events and Activities
Spectrum events provide fun, alternative ways for young gay, bi and trans guys to meet and hang out. Spectrum holds various events and activities on a regular basis, ranging from Coffee or Game Nights to Film Fests and Club events. Most events are open to everyone. Call 850-656-2437, extension 246 to find out about our latest event or to be added to our email list.
